Over
the years, Pinckney offspring have increased like the "seeds of Abraham"
with many living far afield from the happy "Garden of Eden" of yesteryear.
However, as the even-numbered year rolls around to June, Pinckney kith
and kin, far and near, numbering about 500 return for the Pinckney Family
Reunion held at a Pinckney home place.
Following the old-time picnic, the day-long gathering
always includes the children's parade, welcome to recently married couples,
new babies, remembrance of departed souls, old time stories, and spiritual
singing by our Black Elliott Pinckneys. What a Blessed Celebration' Certainly,
the jovial manner and musical talents of Black Elliott Pinckney who lived
in Pinckney Colony and played the guitar and sang for us, were passed
on to his offspring - Daisy, Emestine, Eloise, and Julius Pinckney.
Among the Pinckney cousins who travel long distances
to attend the reunion on each occasion are Dan Pinckney and family and
Jimmy James from California, Frances Pinckney Cahill from Maine, Pat and
Hugh Harvey, Katherine and David Hooks from Virginia, Bill and Gen Williams,
Virginia Pinckney Highberger from Texas, and cousins by the dozens from
South Carolina and Georgia.
